About the event

Please join me in a virtual town hall meeting on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 7pm to talk about social justice issues, racial disparities and how white people can take steps towards being true allies. We will also provide action steps for policy change.

The town hall will be facilitated by me and will feature Black leaders in Monona, Wisconsin. Our panel includes:

• Andrew McKinney, the first African American school board president for Monona Grove School District,

• Loreen Gage, the first African American woman to be elected to Monona Grove School District board,

• Reuben Sanon, Communications & Diversity Strategist for the City of Sun Prairie

This event will stream live on Facebook right here on my city council page. The public is encouraged to submit questions throughout the session.

The goal for this session is to provide a forum for understanding, education on living while Black in America, providing a space for empathy, and to safely express frustration, anger, and all of the emotions in between.

Helpful resources will be posted in the Discussion tab for your use.

**Please note that we will not be discussing details of the incident that occurred on June 2 in Monona between Monona Police Department and Keonte Furdge. This event is still under investigation and is incidental since there are thousands of other similar incidents that occur annually throughout the United States.
