About The Event
Please join me in a discussion with Kalvin Barrett on police reform, this new era of policing that we are entering, and learning how law enforcement in our communities can be different.
This event will take place on Wednesday, August 5 at 7pm on Facebook. The event will be recorded and loaded to YouTube afterwards.

Kalvin received a full athletic scholarship to play football for the University of Wisconsin (2000). He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology- University of Wisconsin and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice- American Public University.
Kalvin D. Barrett started his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office (2009). As a Deputy, Kalvin specialized as a member of the Gang Task Force and served as booking deputy throughout his tenure. As a member of the Special Events Team, Kalvin served and protected citizens during the following city-wide events: ● The University of Wisconsin Football games (2009) ● Halloween’s Freak Fest (2010) ● Mifflin Street Block Party (2011) ● Wisconsin Capital Protests (2011)
Additionally, Kalvin served on a security detail for the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, at a University of Wisconsin speaking event.
Kalvin was hired as the first African American police officer of the Sun Prairie Police Department (2011). Kalvin was selected to be a certified instructor of Defense and Arrest Tactics, Tactical Deployment, and use of Tasers (2013). Kalvin trained new officers on illegal controlled substances. Kalvin was awarded the Sun Prairie Police Department’s Life Saving Award for his life-saving efforts during the revival of a citizen who experienced cardiac arrest. Kalvin also serves on the Board of Directors for Tellurian Inc.
In 2018, Kalvin started an organizational consulting business called KDB Innovative Consulting LLC. Kalvin is the sole proprietor and specializes in customized workplace violence training, active threat response, and diversity and inclusion training.
